Insight Press – The Leader In You
In today’s fast-paced business world where people do not have time to communicate on a regular basis, clients are looking for something more. Dale Carnegie, in the Insight Press – The Leader In You, stresses the point that relationship building is the cornerstone of every successful business. He suggests that businesses can no longer ignore the needs of their customers and also mentions that, ‘people will have to think quicker, work smarter and dream wilder and relate to each other in very different ways.’
Carnegie says, ‘About 15 per cent of one’s financial success is due to one’s technical knowledge and about 85 per cent is due to skill in human engineering – the personality and the ability to lead people.’
In this book he emphasizes the need for such a leader who will have to communicate and inspire others using a distinguished skill set, encouraging his people to adapt to change and move with the times and by recognizing untapped and creative talent within their workplace.
Although Carnegie wrote this book years ago, he did leave a set of principles that are as relevant today as they were then. Some of his principles that any leader can easily apply in their daily lives are :
- Consider the other persons’ perspective.
- Praise genuinely and open-heartedly.
- Tap on the power of enthusiasm.
- Respect others’ dignity.
- Keep criticism on the low.
- Give people a good reputation to live up to.
- Maintain a balance between work and fun, in life and the workplace.
For Children of Age 15+ years
This is a period of transition in how teenagers think, feel, and interact with others, as well as in how their minds develop. The years between the ages of 15 and 18 can be crucial in helping your teen mature and develop the skills necessary to become a responsible adult.
This is also an important time to prepare for more independence and responsibility; many teenagers start working, and many will be leaving home soon after high school.
Understanding your teen’s development can help you parent successfully during adolescence. Our books can assist in developing and moulding them for the future, to make each individual a better human being in general.
However, most of the books in this collection are classified as chapter books. As a family read-aloud, these books would be ideal for newly independent readers as well as older children.
